Fic: Brand New Normal

My computer is about to lock up at any moment here, so let's do this quickly!

Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Story: Brand New Normal

Girl, I absolutely loved this story and your portrayal of Clark! And Clark's relationship with his mom! And girl, I'm totally jealous of your phrasings! I was going to cut and paste what I liked but it got to be too much! Suffice it to say, I love the way you play with language.

You really put a smile on my face.

Very well done. I must say, your use of language and phrasing was terrific. I really liked the whole premise of this story -- it makes sense that folks thought something was "wrong" with Clark and Clark delving into this perceived "wrongness" to get to know himself and what he actually wants -- which is Lex (we all want Lex). Very nice and thanks for sharing.

Hey SweetDee. Yes, Lex is the answer to everything that ails Clark (and us *g*) because Lex is weird enough in his own ways that he doesn't consider Clark's difference to be a bad thing. Thanks for the feedback!

Your Clark was so goofily adorable and identifiable, which is a bit of a trick to translate when dealing with well, Clark. It was wonderful the way you eased into his impressions of Lex so that when things did start cooking, I certainly hadn't expected it! But it also wasn't out of nowhere, either, if that makes sense. You gave so many SV characters such true voices. Thanks for this one!

It does make sense! And it's good to hear. I'd tried to put in little hints of Clark's attraction to Lex, even if Clark himself didn't yet recognize them for what they were. Looks like it worked. *g*

What a cute, funny story! Clark seemed very high-schoolish in this one. I especially liked this phrase: stopping was a complicated process that usually involved him running into something or falling down LOL!

Thanks! I tried my best to make him sound like a high schooler. The first two stories I wrote had him at 22 and 18, so this was a new Clark for me.

This was wonderful! The 'voices' were right on and Chloe, CLark and Pete were actually acting like teenagers.

I loved how well you showed that Clark was still growing into his new skin; all long legs, new powers and a growing awareness of his new sexuality.

Your descriptive phrases were wonderful, it was very easy to 'see' what Clark saw. Lex was grace and sex personified and, Martha was wonderful as well. Very, very nice!

This was such a great story. All of your characterization was perfect, especially Clark's. There aren't a lot of writers that can give us a believable teenage Clark, but you did an excellent job. I especially like your Martha. Mom of an alien, asking him to lift the fridge, but still not treating him any different than she'd treat a "normal" kid. Thanks for sharing!

so i read this when i found a link on Calico's lj...because she usually has all these connections to yummy fics...and..

the fic made me squirm in my seat and spend a long time afterwards reminiscing about why....
